IHSS is still the statewide Medi-Cal program. Ventura County social services owns the case when the recipient lives in Ventura County.

Statewide eligibility is the same here as in Los Angeles County: California residence, Medi-Cal determination, living at home, SOC 873 or accepted alternative documentation, and an in-home assessment. A hospital or licensed community care facility is not “own home.” Sharing a media market with Los Angeles does not share an IHSS office.

How Ventura County families should find the office
