Inland Empire families and Riverside County IHSS

Riverside County is an Inland Empire county with a long east-west span. Families often treat that span as if it created several IHSS programs, or they treat Riverside and San Bernardino as one office because people say “the IE.” IHSS is still one statewide Medi-Cal program. Riverside County social services owns the case when the recipient lives in Riverside County. San Bernardino County owns its own cases.

Statewide eligibility does not loosen in the desert or tighten in the western suburbs. The person must live in California, have a Medi-Cal determination, live at home, return SOC 873 or accepted alternative documentation, and complete an in-home assessment. A hospital or licensed community care facility is not “own home.”

How Inland Empire families find the Riverside office

Do not guess a western-county building and drive there. Open the CDSS county IHSS office list, find Riverside County, and use that listing. This article will not invent a phone number or a street address. If a clinic in one city and a hospital in another city hand you different numbers, verify both against CDSS.

If the parent lives in Riverside County and you work in Los Angeles County or Orange County, you still file in Riverside County. Distance is not a reason to use another county’s window. Ask the listed office how it wants SOC 295 delivered.
