AAA and aging-network IHSS blurb and checklist

Updated September 16, 2026. Reviewed September 16, 2026 against public CDSS, DHCS, Medicare.gov, VA, and CareScout 2025 California tables. County wages, hours, and wait times still change. Official .gov pages decide.

IHSS, MSSP, CBAS, regional center services, and respite sit in different lanes. This page keeps the IHSS lane clear for intake staff. Add your program name before you print. Do not add unofficial office phone numbers.

  • IHSS is a Medi-Cal program administered by CDSS and run by county social services.
  • Point the family to the county where the person lives, then to the CDSS county IHSS office list.
  • MSSP, CBAS, PACE, and regional center IPPs do not replace SOC 873 or the IHSS notice.
  • Respite and IHSS can appear in the same household. They still use separate authorizations.
  • Do not quote wages or hours. Send families to CDSS wage-rate and county pages.
  • Printable family tools: californiahomehelp.com/checklists and californiahomehelp.com/tools.
  • If the family wants a coordinator for paperwork, californiahomehelp.com/get-started. The county still files.

See if IHSS may apply

A coordinator can walk through Medi-Cal, county forms, and the home visit with you. The county still decides eligibility and hours.

For example: starting an IHSS application, provider enrollment, or county forms. Keep medical records and diagnoses for the county packet.
